Reviewing the River White

"The rhythm of clear water moving over smooth stones, shining in the sun or lost in fog, filling your senses with sight and sound and memories.

"How else to describe the new book with a unique pairing of watercolors and poetry, The River White,  by brothers Duane and Ken Hada?

"This graceful 104-page  volume from Mongrel EmpirePress  is a work of art in itself in design along with 46 poems and double the number of watercolors tracing the White River for 700 miles, from source in Northwest Arkansas to the Mississippi. The title of each poem is a location on the river. It and a small watercolor on the right pages face a full page watercolor on the left.  Twin brush strokes--words and color. A masterpiece of publishing and talent."

ECU's 2nd Annual French Festival starts February 3rd, 2012

These are the 5 films we currently plan to screen along with screening dates (we expect all screenings to begin at 4 pm):
Friday, February 3: Paris
Friday, February 10: Coco Avant Chanel
Tuesday, February 14:  A French Gigolo
Friday, February 17: I’ve Loved You So Long
Friday, February 24: Potiche

STD outbreak: Friday at 2 in the Tower Room of the University Center

Sigma Tau Delta, ECU’s English Honor Society, will have its first outbreak of the spring semester at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 27th in the Tower Room of the University Center. After meeting briefly to discuss the upcoming French Film Festival (we need student volunteers to sit at the welcome table from 3:40 to 4:00 on February 3rd, 10th, 14th, 17th, and 24th before our screenings), we will adjourn to the Estep Center for a screening of Jean Renoir’s 1939 film La règle du jeu (“The Rules of the Game”), followed, presumably, by some discussion. (The film is 110 minutes long.) Click here for more information about the film.

Whether you are an STD regular, a lapsed STD enthusiast, or someone who is simply STD-curious, you are welcome to join us.

Yours in STD,
